Chavasse Park, Paradise Street Project, Liverpool
Grand Award
Principal Award: Hard Landscape Construction Cost over £1.5m
The Paradise Street Development is a major regeneration project covering approximately 42 acres which when complete, will form the major part of the redevelopment of Liverpool City Centre. The Paradise Street Project includes the construction of over 30 individual buildings providing 1.65 million sq. ft. of new shops, hotels, housing, leisure, and other facilities. Amongst robust new travel plans, new bus stations, and shopmobility strategies, a new underground car park is being created to serve the development.
At the heart of the public realm development a new public park has evolved - comprising in excess of 20,000m sq. of soft and hard landscaping, the park cascades over 3 storeys of parking, retail and internal public space. Physically forming the park (as a roof garden), working within tight time frames and achieving levels of quality inherent in the Design and Client Teams aspirations has brought into being a dynamic and versatile, yet striking, town centre urban park.
